ANDROMEDA PROJECT, THE
A strange radio signal from the Andromeda constellation provides instructions to build a supercomputer. In a very short period of time "the super computer" amasses a wealth of information about life on Earth and soon becomes more powerful than anyone could ever have anticipated. Using its vast intelligence, and with the connivance of the Ministry of Defence, it fashions a robot from flesh and blood to carry out its wishes. But at its heart, A for Andromeda is a strange love story between a brilliant scientist John Fleming (Tom Hardy – Gideon’s Daughter, The Virgin Queen, Sweeney Todd) and ‘Christine’/Andromeda (Kelly Reilly – Mrs Henderson Presents, The Libertine). Fleming is both intoxicated and repelled by the icily beautiful humanoid computer that is created.
